Join the many people who have worked with Lloyd Collective to create their private practices!

“Ariana has done an incredible job supporting me in my work as a trainer and consultant. In my experience Ariana’s wizardry as a consultant stems from what I feel is an ideal mix of several factors.  First she is authentically positive, enthusiastic and  undyingly supportive.  Second she has been truly curious and interested when it comes to understanding and attuning to what I really wanted, to my style, my vision, and my skill set. Finally, she’s extremely resourceful and has great technology skills. Ariana takes the time to really know the people she supports, she gets a kick out of helping you bring your best self to the world.”

Hi there. I’m so glad you have dropped by. Here’s what I know about you:

A. You’re sincere, curious and hard-working. You are a well-trained, big-hearted, passion-centered mental health clinician who has chosen to go into a helping profession and make a difference in a world that needs it. You’re aware of systemic oppression and committed to taking action.

B. You want more. You want to get out of the mental health agency route and forge your own trail. You crave freedom, connection, and financial security. You are itching to create more opportunity for you and your people. So you’ve decided to start a private practice.

C. You want help with this: the marketing (the marketing!), technology, legalities, accounting and more. You want clear, reliable guidance that is cost-efficient, smart and honest. You want to know what to spend money on, and what you can save money on by DIY-ing. You want to be up and running and be reaching your private practice goals sooner rather than later, with a community of support for your new venture.

And here’s what I know about me:

I’m Ariana Lloyd, a social worker-entrepreneur. I know therapy from the inside-out, and business too. I understand how these two worlds come together, and how they strengthen one another. I help mental health professionals set up private practices in a clear, guided, community-oriented, step-by-step process.

I believe mental health care needs to be more anti-racist, human-centered and radical, and believe it will happen in part by you starting a private practice.

I believe creating opportunity for ourselves and others is a revolutionary act of social justice.

Please check out the terms and conditions of this program prior to application.

  • You will have created so much opportunity for yourself and the people you care about.

“Ariana has been extremely helpful during this journey of opening my private practice. I started with an idea of having my own business, however, I had no idea on how to start. I feel comfortable asking questions and with her I feel there are no bad questions; she answers any question in a caring and respectful way. She is also incredible at directing me to resources for questions that are out of her scope of practice. This process can be difficult at times, and I am glad that I can walk this journey with the support and care from Ariana.

How does this program work?

  • We start August 2024, 10am-noon Pacific Time.
  • We meet in a small cohort for 8 weeks.
  • We come together for live video meetings every week.
  • We work hard. In between sessions you will receive videos, homework sheets, and tutorials.
  • We stay connected throughout with ongoing 1:1 asynchronous coaching, accountability buddies and intragroup support.

Week 1: GET CLARITY. Identify your purpose, niche and name. Outside of the program, people spend at least one consultation hour with doing this, at $250/hr fee (cost included).

Week 2: GET LEGITIMATE. Set up your legal foundation. We’ll clearly explain business structure options, let you know of general practices, and direct you to the right resources to register your business. This is not legal advice. Be prepared to spend approximately $100+ for an LLC, and avoid paying an attorney $300/hr to tell you these basics.

Week 3: GET LOUD. Tell your friends what you’re up to. We’ll teach you to build your own website (yes, you can do it!) and you’ll save yourself an average of $1-4k (the average cost to hire this out, or to have someone manage your website each month, over about 3 years). We’ll help you get that “I’m not good with technology” voice out of your head.

Week 4: GET CONFIDENTIAL. Ready your documentation. We’ll tell you three main documentation options and pros and cons for each. We’ll identify the necessary HIPAA-compliant forms, and ensure your language and policies are inclusive and intentional.

Week 5: GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY. Address your mental barriers. This is business-specific mindset work that goes beyond your therapist’s office. We’ll put systems in place to help you continually connect with and grow your community, while further clarifying your values and intentions for this work.

Week 6: GET MONEY. Set up your accounting systems, business bank accounts, tax payments, fee structure and all the important financial parts of business ownership.

Week 7: GET PRACTICE. Do a walk-through with a trusted friend. We’ll catch all the snags and snafus to ensure your practice is trauma-informed, client-centered, anti-oppressive, and matches your most important values. .

Week 8: GET EXCITED. Connect with people who need your help now. We’ll help you avoid spending time and energy on therapist directories that are not inclusive, and help you understand a foundation for organic, honest and ongoing marketing and community-making.

Most people take 6 months setting up an online private practice. Often even after setting it up they take many more months getting clients. You don’t have to do it this way! In our work together, you will have your practice set up in a third of the time, and have a variety of tools for best connecting with your clients (i.e. marketing). You will save months of time and and earn your start-up costs back within 10-15 client sessions (based on the average therapist charging $100-200/session).

“Ariana is such a great support and guide to have as you start your journey in building your private practice- this group helped build my confidence in my business idea as well as build connections with other small business owners.”
